Project T

The tale of our 1991 Acura Integra RS Hatchback being brought back from the dead. Neglected for years, this car now has a home where it'll be cared for and made into a properly awesome little Honda. This car may end up with track aspirations, who knows. All we do know is that it's a blast to drive and it's only going to get better.

2-13-2010 - New battery & reloc for the teg, custom intake shield

On a whim we decided it was time to deal with the battery. Being able to see the intake temps on the teg put the idea in our heads that we needed to devise a solution for shielding the short ram.... Odyssey PC680MJ to the rescue.

The tiny battery saved us 15+ lbs and allowed us to relocate it out of the way. We built a custom cradle for it and replaced the terminal connectors.

We then took thin sheet metal and covered it with heat insulator for heating pipes in a house. We also wrapped the entire intake tube in that same insulation. The results? The IAT's are 30 degrees cooler at idle!!! This is going to make a huge difference in the performance of the car in the summer by reducing heat soak in traffic. We also plan to get a IMG soon to help keep the intake manifold cooler.

2-6-2010 - Wideband for the teg, Boost gauge for the Civic

Fed up with not being able to tune the fuel on the teg, we got a wideband for it. Wired it directly into the S300 so we can datalog it.

Got the boost gauge installed on the Civic as well. I re-routed all of the vacuum connections while I was in there. Everything feeds off the brake booster line now.

2-5-2010 - Hot Car Is Blueish White ???

1-31-2010 - Finished timing belt, Upgraded fuel pump and pressure testing, Civic front lip install

What a day. We finished up the timing belt install on the teg, Adam installed mud flaps, then got it out of the garage so we could shift gears to working on the Civic.

Doug@Hondata sent me his fuel pressure tester to run an array of tests on the fuel pressure of the system as I performed each upgrade to the system. We had to test at the tank and at the fuel rail, this made for interesting drives down the road in the rain with the pressure tester coming through the passenger window.... Adam loved every moment of it...lol

After doing the tests from the pump, we decided to get the front lip installed as it was getting late and I didn't feel like driving around in the rain any more.

1-30-2010 - Chaos

The girls are out of town for the weekend, so Adam and I took on a bunch of projects to fill our time this weekend.

Got new OEM front lips for both the Si and the teg. The lip for the teg is special because these don't exist. Adam's sister works for Honda and was able to find one tucked away in a warehouse somewhere. It's brand spanking new...

After we got that painted and installed, I got under the car to change the oil... and was greeted by dripping coolant.... from the water pump. Knowing what this means, we set out to tear the engine apart and replace the water pump. Not what we'd originally had in mind, but we got it handled anyways.

1-30-2010 - Sears parking lot shoot

While we were out and about trying to pick up parts for our random projects, I took a moment to snap some shots in the Sears parking lot.

1-28-2010 - S300 install

Doug@Hondata hooked me up with a obd0-obd1 conversion harness for the teg. We picked up a obd1 distributor from Auto Adventure. It's tune time.

1-27-2010 - Teg interior - Part 2

Adam went back and picked up some more parts for the teg. Pillar covers, trunk floor, ash tray, 92-93 taillights, and black door locks. I also ordered -new- black window cranks from Acura. No moar tan in the teg, anywhere.... yay!

1-25-2010 - Oh noes, teg gets interior - Part 1

Adam found a source for a nearly complete black interior for the teg. He went out and picked up the first load of parts. New front and rear seats, all plastic panels from the back seat to the trunk, seat belts, carpet, black panels for under the dash and kick area.

1-23-2010 - CF painted white

We finally got fed up with the fading clear coat on the CF hood. Rattle cans to the rescue!
