2-3-2011 - CVs acquired, shifting assembly tightened up
First time in the air for the CX. Messed with the CV's long enough to figure out that it was too late and too loud to continue on it at 2am. SO I shifted my focus to the shift linkage.
The tranny is leaking fluid from the shift linkage input. WIN. Stupid tranny is stupid. It needs to go. Won't go into 1st/reverse sometimes and grinds 3rd every chance it gets. Dumb.
Replaced the bushings for the shift linkage. The OEM main one had shrunk or something. The linkage literally was just loose.... IDK WTF that's about. The new ES bushings made everything nice and tight.
When I got under there I saw that the top part of the lower heat shield was completely loose. It had rusted itself to death and was just sitting on top of the exhaust pipe. After some pulling, bending and swearing, I was able to remove it from the car. Thankfully that got rid of all the exhaust rattling so I don't need to replace the cat shields. Money saved.
