2-19 - 2-20 2011 - The curse of the valve cover part 2

This valve cover...... wow it hates me.

After much abuse with a wire wheel, flap wheel, wire wheel again, dish soap, acetone, etc, etc... it will take paint.

It takes the paint so well that it makes the painter go a little crazy. Towards the end of the night I was a little out of my mind. I started putting the paint on way too heavy, well yeah RUNS. Really bad runs, the kind you can't sand out without going back down to the metal. The best part is that the ORANGE paint became RED when coated super thick. So I have this red valve cover that's supposed to be orange that I can't do anything about for now.

Well I sanded, and I sanded, and I sanded forever. And basically ended up with something that looks like bleh. This thing will never cooperate. I think it's a sign that the D-series is not for me. At least the new hardware looks nice on it, a bittersweet victory.

Before I started sanding, full fail mode
After sanding, still so much fail. I'm taking pix from the only flattering angles I can find...lol
